WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer for our Minneapolis, Minnesota office. This Opportunity The Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with WSP's mission statement and our culture. Your Impact The Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with our mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals of the department, maintain our high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients. • Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:• One-line diagrams • Schematics • Wiring diagrams • SCADA • Communications • Station physical layouts • Sections/Elevations • Cable and conduit plans and details • Ground grid design and details • Foundation plans and details • Structural plans and details • Control enclosure design and details • Lightning protection plans • Yard lighting plans • Bills of Materials • Site visits
• Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. • Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs
Required Qualifications • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option • Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on • Candidates should enjoy living in the Burnsville area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistance • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel • Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. • 0-1 years of experience Preferred Qualifications • 3+ months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis • Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) • Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design • Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam Disclaimer • Relocation assistance is not available for this role WSP Benefits: WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $58,200-$96,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
